Alternative fuels for Automobiles
The best way for replacing fossil fuels is developing Electric cars, bio-fuels, hydrogen fuel or hybrid of these two. It can also be achieved by the combination of these technologies. For more than hundred years, fossil fuels have been the important and dominant energy source for automobiles. There has been no serious change to the internal combustion engine, except change of energy source from gasoline to diesel. The rising fuel price and increasing environmental pressure makes the automakers to work on alternatives. Certainly demand for automobile fuel is in peak as automobile sale is rising in many countries including Russia and India. Introducing alternative fuels into such market is the only solution to nullify the effect of rising fuel price and environmental pressure. Brazil is known for having industry and infrastructure for biofuels. Brazil is the larger producer of Bioethanol from sugar cane, which grows abundantly in the country. Use of biofuels is good alternative for fossil fuel; still it cannot solve all the problems related to energy resource.
Advances in Battery technology, such as lithium-ion batteries have made the revolution by the use of this technology in cell phones and laptop computers. The technology is also used in developing electric cars. Among alternative energy sources, nuclear fission is slowly replacing fossil fuels as a potential source of electric power.
